About ARC
Fifty years of asking the question first
ARC is an architectural consulting firm specializing in planning, architectural programming, facility evaluation and architectural research. Founded in 1976, we are the largest and longest-established firm in New Mexico specializing in planning.
Most architecture firms begin when a project is already defined. ARC works on either side of that moment — before design, establishing what is genuinely needed and what it will cost, and after occupancy, measuring whether the building performs.
That pre- and post-design position is unusual, and it is the reason our work tends to survive contact with a legislature, a board, or a bond election. Much of what we produce exists to communicate a real need to the people who control the money.
History
How the firm grew
ARC is founded
Established in Albuquerque as a firm specializing in planning, programming and architectural research rather than building design.
Institutional planning practice
Master planning expands across New Mexico’s universities, colleges and school districts. The Doña Ana relationship begins in 1992 and continues today.
Data capability brought in-house
GIS, database development and visualization added, so facility data is collected by the same team that plans with it.
Condition assessment at scale
Practice matures around the national Facility Condition Index paired with ARC’s own adequacy scoring method.
Statewide capital planning partner
Working with federal, state and local agencies across New Mexico, and a member of Cooperative Educational Services.
